In the wake of the much-discussed Singapore Summit between North Korea and the US, Chairman Kim says he expects to use his newfound legitimacy to win the next round of one-candidate elections.
While lauded by all Trumpists as well as some progressives and libertarians who naively favor peace, the summit has been widely regarded as a propaganda coup by serious experts. Not only were US and North Korean flags seen canoodling like hormonal teenagers, but a sitting US President deigned to meet face-to-face with Chairman Kim.
It's true that this particular president is be held in near-universal contempt by experts and the international community. Even so, it's commonly understood that the meeting will be a big boost to Kim's prestige at home--elevating from god status to titan, or whatever is above that.
That will prove important in the next batch of North Korean elections, particularly for the small subset of citizens in the North which have access to non-state media.
As Chairman Kim explained to The Daily Face Palm through an interpreter, "These one-candidate elections can get very competitive, but after the summit, I'm confident that only the candidates I approve of will prevail. They always do."
